2021 Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Canceled

"This was a heartbreaking decision for our leadership and was not made lightly," stated Brad Barns, President and General Manager of Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, during the Friday, October 9 2020 press conference. "To proceed with the 2021 event would be too great a risk to take for the public good. The short-term gain is no substitute for the long-term well-being of our many loyal exhibitors, guests, their families and the community at large," Barns continued.

Originally scheduled for January 15 through February 6, 2021 the legendary Ft. Worth Stock Show & Rodeo has canceled its 23 day show and released its 2022 dates of January 14 - February 5, providing a light at the end of the tunnel for stock show exhibitors and enthusiast, alike. To say that this event will be missed by the Western industry at large is an understatement, but as the old saying goes "the show will go on!"

This year would have been Ft. Worth's 124th year of celebrating the Stock Show & Rodeo. In this 124-year reign, Ft. Worth has only had to cancel the Stock Show & Rodeo one other time - during World War 2 in 1943. Both decisions were made based upon keeping the community at large safe from enemy attacks, only this time it was against an enemy of the invisible variety.

In closing, Barns expressed "With a vision for a brighter future we promise to remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the stock show always embodies the spirit of the western way of life, that makes Ft. Worth the special place it is." This year has been tough, but the Western industry is tougher! Stay strong and remember, "This thing is legendary" and the light at the end of the tunnel is near!
