The 2023 Art of the Cowgirl event, a celebration of cowgirls and their contributions to the Western lifestyle and culture, took place this past week at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre in Queen Creek, Arizona.

Over five days, there was a Western makers trade show, master artist workshops and horsemanship demonstrations, riding clinics and colt starting, an All-Women’s Ranch Rodeo, World’s Greatest Horsewoman competition, cattle dog trials, a live art auction, elite horse sale, live music, and more.

All Women's Ranch Rodeo, presented by COWGIRL Magazine

We were proud to once again sign on as presenting sponsor for the All Women's Ranch Rodeo. The competition features four events: Double Doctoring, Branding, Team Roping, and Ranch Horse. It was some great watching with a lot of tough cowgirl teams!

The winners of the 2023 competition were the Vaqueras Locas—Kelsey Thomas, Whitney Hall, Becca Fagan, and Codie Brown. Congratulations, cowgirls!

World's Greatest Horsewoman, presented by Western Horseman

The World’s Greatest Horsewoman focuses on one horse and one rider testing their skills and versatility with the same bit in four phases—herd work, reining, steer stopping, and cow work. With these categories, the competition hopes to reward the most well-rounded cowgirl.

This year's winner was Kelsey Love Thomas aboard her amazing mare, Elvira. She not only add her second World’s Greatest Horsewoman title to her belt, but she had the highest marked run ever at Art of the Cowgirl with a 153 down the fence!

Breakaway Roping, presented by Merck Animal Health

Breakaway is rodeo's fastest-growing sport. This year's winner of the event at Art of the Cowgirl was Emilee Charlesworth with a time of 10.89 seconds on 3 head.

We are so glad to be apart of this amazing event, and are already looking forward to next year!
