Cleaning your barn goes beyond mucking stalls! If you want to keep things fresh, then it’s best to clean up regularly. Homemade cleaners make this task simple and easy. Your horse’s laundry, stall fronts, water buckets, and more can get squeaky clean with just a few common household products. You might have a few already lying around!

Homemade Cleaners

  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Olive oil
  • Essential oils

Cleaners

General Disinfectant Wipes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup with vinegar
  • 10 drops of lemon essential oil
  • 10 drops tea tree oil
  • 10 drops lavender oil
  • Empty container that seals
  • 15 small pieces of cloth

Directions:

  1. Combine all of your wet ingredients. Mix them well!
  2. Put the cloth pieces into your container
  3. Pour the mixture onto the cloth pieces
  4. Seal up and use one when needed

Water Drains

Sprinkle 1/2 to 3/4 cup of baking soda down the drain. Next, pour the same amount of white vinegar down it. Wait about 8 minutes and flush it down with hot water.

Wood Walls, Cabinets, & Stall Fronts

Use a little bit of olive oil mixed with vinegar and water. Rub on the surfaces of wood.

Laundry

Create a baking soda/water mixture and rub on stains to pre-treat.

Add vinegar to your rinse cycle for softer fabric.
