“Keith and Susan Maddox opened The Best Hat Store to bring the Fort Worth and North Texas area a superior selection of brands, colors, quality, and fit in western hats.
“Keith is a 30-year veteran of the western wear industry, and Susan brings 21 years experience in retail sales to the business. From a modest beginning with approximately 1,500 hats in stock, The Best Hat Store has grown to become one of the country’s leading specialty hat stores. It now maintains a year round inventory of more than 4,000 hats, including over 100 different styles in felt hats alone.
“In addition to the store, Keith and Susan decided to take their concept across the country by bringing their selection of hats to such events as the The AQHA World Quarter Horse Show in Oklahoma City and the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

The men of Best Hat each bring their own strengths, experiences, and style to the art they perform each and every day. Ryan has been a part of the team for four years and loves seeing the different types of people from all over the world that come together in search of the the perfect cowboy hat.
Clay says, “I’ve been at Best Hat for a little over three years and I’ve been shaping hats for almost six. I learned to shape from Scott and Travis Catalena. My favorite part of my job is a hard answer to give. I love meeting a bunch of new people from different walks of life, but shaping hats is my favorite part. [I love] being able to form someone’s identity, being able to shape their character, and being able to have the opportunity to create who they are with their hat. That’s my favorite part.”
Danny has been at Best Hat for four years but has been shaping hats for a total of 22 years. When asked how he learned his craft, he said, “I was kind of thrown to the wolves you might say and had to pretty much learn on my own. Sink or swim! And I’m keeping my head above water! [My favorite] is getting to talk to different people from all different walks of life and then getting to create a cowboy hat to suit their style! Lots of people consider what we do a dying art!”
Seems like everyone these days is trying to make old things new…and here we are trying to make new things look old!

I’m forever a fan of the rule, “Leopard is the new neutral.”
See?! Told y’all! Leopard goes with anything from a toned down palette to the most off the wall colors.
Can you ever have too many accessories? The answer is no, no you cannot!
This is something you definitely won’t have to worry about seeing anyone else in. The custom band with concho embellishment and burnished detail might be often imitated, but never equalled.
Such a classy hat for a classy lady. This is something that will never go out of style, simple as that.
