No one wants dry or dull skin, or skin that is breaking out or uneven. Keeping your skin hydrated and fresh is exactly why moisturizing is one of the most crucial parts of your daily skincare routine. Hydration is the best present we can give to our skin—especially the skin on our face, which is so delicate and yet receives the most sun.

Whether you’re an avid moisturizer or just getting used to the idea, we made it easy by finding which moisturizers work best for each skin type.

Oily Skin

If you have oily skin you definitely want a moisturizer that’s oil-free. You also want a moisturizer with SPF. Having a moisturizer with a built-in sunscreen saves you the extra step of adding sunscreen, which can also have a rather oily base. Always make sure you put SPF on every day; protecting your skin from harmful UV rays will keep it fresh, bright, and wrinkle-free for longer! With that said, Cetaphil’s Oil Control Moisturizer with SPF 30 is a smart choice for oily skin types. Available at a drugstore near you, $17.

Acne Prone Skin

When you have acne prone skin, it can be either oily or dry skin or a combination of the two. Clinique’s Acne Solutions Clearing Oil-free Moisturizer is perfect if you have combination skin because it lightly hydrates dry skin or dry spots, but it’s oil-free, and it treats and prevents future breakouts. Due to its versatility, it is worthwhile to try whether you have dry, oily or combination skin. Available at Lord & Taylor, $20.

Dry Skin

Dry skin gets drier in both winter and summer, especially if you live in a dry climate. So if it’s not early fall or spring, you should definitely be putting a priority on moisturizing. This Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47 is all natural, chemical free and infused with Argan oil to give you non oily, hydrated skin. Available at Sephora, $32.

Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin often disagrees with regular moisturizers, leading to redness, irritation, and even breakouts. Aveeno’s Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 15 is designed to be ultra-gentle on sensitive skin. It is fragrance free and gentle to moisturize without making your skincare routine a nightmare. Available at your local drugstore, $15.

Combination Skin

Combination skin can often be the most difficult to work with when it comes to moisturizing. If you have combination skin that isn’t acne-prone you won’t need something as strong as an acne-free moisturizer, so Philosophy’s Hope In A Jar Oil-free SPF 30 Moisturizer is the perfect solution. It is designed for normal to oily skin, but works even for dry patches of skin that have a tendency to spring up with combination skin types. Philosopy is also a market leader because all of their products are formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes or other chemicals found in many other products- which makes them suitable for sensitive skin types as well! Available at Sephora, $42.
