Rolling the dice in Vegas was not what paid off big for Amberley Snyder. She bet her hand down on her, and a bay gelding, “French Open” (Frenchmans Guy x Miss Eye Paint) A.K.A. Legacy. Amberley and Legacy were crowned champions of the “open” at the annual “Buckles and Barrels for Bailey” held at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fast is an understatement for the duo as they set an arena record the first day with a 13.955. “I knew after what we did day 1, he was going to be fun all weekend,” says Snyder. Legacy ran a 14 flat pattern the second day placing them second in the round. On the third and final day they ran a 13.97 for yet another win.

She took home a check for $7,855 and was the average champion in the Open. But the best victory for Amberley was to get out and support such a great cause “The cause is truly admirable and the atmosphere is unmatched all year,” says Snyder.

“Buckles and Barrels for Bailey” is a nonprofit organization that donates money to families in need that have children with medical condition. The association has raised thousands of dollars at their annual barrel race, which they then give back to help cushion the payment on hefty medical bills. The first barrel race started in 2010, and has grown every year since then.

Michael and Paula Gaughan donated their facility, South Point Hotel and Casino for the event back in 2010, and have continued in their generosity every year since then.

Amberley and Legacy will be gearing up for the Wilderness Circuit Finals. “We plan on going to smaller races between now and then,” says Snyder.
