Women Show Cancer Who's Boss At A Specialized Yoga Retreat

This Sunday is Cancer Survivors Day, and to celebrate, Big Sky Yoga Retreats is holding their annual Cowgirls vs. Cancer yoga retreat in Clyde Park, Montana.

The Cowgirls vs. Cancer weekend retreat is meant to strengthen and center women that have been affected by breast cancer, whether they’re survivors or are currently undergoing treatment. Throughout the weekend, these women are given amazing opportunities to relax and have fun, including daily yoga classes and horseback riding. They even combine yoga and horses with an event called “Cowgirl Yoga 101,” where the women learn about connecting with horses, as well as how to care for them.

Along with yoga, the relaxing Cowgirls vs. Cancer retreat encourages meditation, journaling, and wildlife watching, all in an effort to relax and support these strong women. Love, sisterhood, and mind and body healing are all key components of the weekend.

To pamper these women, they enjoy “nourishing, gourmet meals specially-made to satisfy your cowgirl cravings and build your energy.” They even have a tradition of toasting pink champagne!

To commemorate the weekend, their journeys, and their zest for healing, the women are also given a photoshoot. Each year, the women can pose for group photos, individual shots, and equine shots — if they so choose — with “yogatographer” Larry Stanley.

If you’re interested in Cowgirls vs. Cancer 2020, you can nominate yourself or others who are survivors of breast cancer or are currently being treated for it. Nominations run from October 1, 2019 to November 15, 2019.

Big Sky Yoga Retreats also offers a program called Cancer Kickin’ Cowgirls, for which they take nominations all year long.
