Breanna Chavez of the Harmony chapter of the Texas FFA was awarded the John Justin Standard of the West Award at the Texas FFA Association’s annual convention. The state’s largest agricultural youth leadership organization brought together over 10,000 members and guests at the Fort Worth Convention Center for its 93rd annual event.

Established in 2001, the John Justin Standard of the West Award recognizes Texas FFA members who go above and beyond, exemplifying the spirit of agriculture, its work ethic and core values of integrity and perseverance. Selection criteria also include the student’s academic achievement, integrity, honesty, and role as a good neighbor and helpful member of the community. Each year, 12 students representing each regional area of the Texas FFA are selected as finalists for the award.

“We are excited to partner with our friends at the Texas FFA for this special event and to celebrate all of the participants and finalists who personify the values of the John Justin Standard of the West Award every day,” said Greg Crouchley, President of Justin Brands, the event’s title co-sponsor. “Special congratulations to Breanna Chavez, this year’s honoree, for her extraordinary efforts with the Harmony FFA and for earning the honor of Harmony High School valedictorian. She has an extremely bright future ahead of her at Texas A&M and she has set a wonderful example for the incoming members of the FFA.”
