What colors do you associate with cowgirls? Turquoise? Santa Fe red, maybe? Possibly buckskin brown? Tammy Pennington, the cowgirl artist, leaves it to you to decide in her coloring books.

She is known for her oil painting commissions of the western lifestyle. From rodeo queen portraits to the everyday lifestyle, she paints it all! She has turned her painting talents into beautiful designs for everyone-- two coloring books: "Colors of a Cowgirl" and "Colors of a Cowgirl: Rodeo Queens."

Tammy turned to the creation of her first coloring book, "Colors of a Cowgirl," after what she defined as a "bad stretch" in her life. She grew up rodeoing and around horses. "Some of my happier moments were spent riding horses while growing up in Texas, so I started doodling images of fancy boots to help soothe my soul," Tammy writes.

Those doodles eventually turned into over 30 pages of hand-drawn designs for a coloring book.

For her second coloring book, Tammy pulled from her own time as a rodeo queen. She understands the beauty of rodeo queens, along with some of the struggles of the territory.

"A coloring book with a western flair, designed for Rodeo Queens and all who love the glitz, glamour, and a little bit of grit that encompasses their journey," Tammy describes. Within the 30 pages of designs, there's a section on "Rodeo Queen Problems" with situations only rodeo queens can relate to.
