It’s a beautiful thing when a passion can become a career.  For Aya Reimer, her knack for makeup artistry and hairstyling plus her love for the Western lifestyle have combined in an amazing profession.  But it’s not just flawless makeup and skillfully placed hair for this woman; she has a business plan and strategy to impress.

Growing up in a military family, Aya traveled the world, but Texas is the one place she calls home.  It was there that she started working at a rodeo arena and fell in love with the Western culture and lifestyle.  At the same time, Aya was competing in beauty pageants when she developed her passion for makeup and hair.

Aya attended the University of Texas at San Antonio on a full scholarship with intentions to become a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.  “God had different plans for me,” she says.  By her third year, Aya’s schedule was full to the brim with makeup appointments, and she even had the opportunity to apprentice under one of Houston’s top makeup artists.  Eight months later, while attending the 2016 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, she saw that her passion could become her career, and she created Western Velour Beauty Co.

In 2017, her company began setting up a “Glamsuite” during the entirety of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, providing hair, makeup, and clothing styling services for rodeo wives, influencers, and fans.  Today, Western Velour Beauty Co. is a mobile beauty team of experienced makeup artists and hairstylists serving clients with on-location beauty services.

Despite her success, it hasn’t always been easy.   “I believe the biggest obstacle I’ve overcome is self-doubt and trying to create a business around makeup, which some may see as a ‘hobby,’” says Aya.

Through passion and perseverance, Aya made her dreams possible.  “Choose something you are truly passionate about and commit to it! Plant the seed and water it … you truly can create a living doing what you love if you dedicate yourself to it!  Be faithful; God has a plan for you!”
