Cowgirl Hotlist

Taylor Wars has always lived the Western life. Growing up, she spent her time rodeoing, showing cattle, and helping her dad and grandpa with their cattle operation and string of mules and horses.  The work ethic and dedication she gleaned from these passions are what drive her today.

She learned to braid by braiding her horses’ manes and tails, as the care of the animals was her responsibility.  She’s has since turned those skills into a business, Poor House Ranch Designs, a brand of handmade braided leather accessories that has taken the Western industry by storm.

This was not the path she always wanted to take, however.  She originally wanted to study Animal Science and become a business owner in that industry, but after her first year of college, she learned the field didn’t satisfy her interests and ultimately ended up taking a creative job with a small business.

“Each experience I had and each professional I worked under lent me their knowledge of business ownership, dedication to their work, and professionalism.  Ultimately, God knew what He was doing with my early years in the workforce, and I was just along for the ride,” Taylor says of the many lessons she has learned.

She praises the support she gets from her family and loved ones, and says, “These are my people!  They are my first calls when I have a new idea, need a little help, or when I’m planning a celebration.  They inspire me to be happy, strong, and creative because they are constantly building me up. I’m incredibly blessed.”

Through her experiences in different professional industries, Taylor has accumulated plenty of advice: “Don’t limit yourself, don’t put a cap on anything, and completely eliminate the word ‘can’t’ from your vocabulary.”
