Emerging artist Mikayla Lane is bringing a vibrant, fresh sound to today's country music scene. Her new single "Ambush" can best be described as "Southwest meets James Bond Spaghetti Western," and we can't get enough! We have an exclusive first listen of "Ambush," and we can't wait for y'all to hear it!

The inspiration for "Ambush" came from the desire to write a love song, but with a different take. Mikayla says, "Everyone has a love song, they’re really popular, so I thought it would be cool to make a twist on one and do something I hadn’t really seen before. We made it this guy "ambushes" this girl with his love. She wasn't really looking for something, then he comes along and changes her perspective."

Growing up in the Western industry has greatly influenced Mikayla's sound. "I really love giving people who aren't really in the Western community a taste of what that's like through my music," she says. "I really hope people feel like they're in that setting and time period. It almost comes across to me like an Old West town, a Lonesome Dove setting, and I hope people can feel that through the production and lyrics."

Not only is she a talented up-and-coming performer, but is an advocate for youth in rodeo. She was the official spokesperson for the nation’s largest youth rodeo, the Vegas Tuffest Junior World Championship. Of the experience, she says, "I went out to Vegas and put on a show for them and really got connected with the contestants and with the people that were working with that project. That was a lot of fun It was cool being the face of something that's promoting youth in the Western industry."

We can't wait to see this young cowgirl's career grow, and we are excited to see what's next! Make sure to follow her on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Spotify!
