Audrey Griffin was known in the Equestrian and Western worlds for her love and passion of horses, and our hearts go out to her family with the passing of this amazing horsewoman. She was a member of the Cowgirl Hall of Fame, inducted in 2008, and was most recognized for her “Roman Riding” skills. According to her friends, she died while on her horse, working cattle, and doing what she loved.

Growing up in Santa Monica, Griffin started riding horses at an early age. With Sis Smith to teach her the ropes of Roman Riding, Griffin went on to perform with the Flying Valkyries in 1956-57 and was still showing off her courageous skills at the age of 79.

In an Instagram post, Olivia Newton-John shared her sadness over the loss of the well-respected cowgirl, writing, “Lost my beautiful kind loving friend Audrey Griffin -heaven gained an angel who will live on in our hearts forever.”

We wish our condolences to all of her family and friends.
