The cowboys have taken over Vegas again… or should we say cowgirls!?

This past week, Las Vegas has been home to the National Reined Cow Horse Association Stallion Stakes. Owned by Teton Ridge, the Stallion Stakes shows off the abilities of four and five-year-old “Subscribed Stallions” to turn around, slide to a stop, and work a steer in a snaffle or hackamore.

Subscribed Stallions, a term coined by NRCHA, is used to designate studs to enhance the cowhorse breeding industry. If your horse’s sire is listed on their list, then your horse can compete in the Stallion Stakes. The goal of the Stallion Stakes is to also show off those horses that might not have been ready for The Futurity.

Since March 23rd, cowgirls have stepped up in every division to claim their titles.

Starting off, Chantz Stewart took home two titles, winning the Non Pro Two Rein Spectacular and the Non Pro Two Rein horse show class. She was aboard Shineyy for the clean sweep!

Next, we have Landri Lisac and her equine partner, Cat Walks Into A Bar. The duo also took home two titles. She started off by scoring a 142 in the herd, then a 145 in the reining, and ended with another strong run of 144.5 for the cutting. Her composite score of 431 won her the Youth Cow Horse Spectacular and the Youth Cow Horse with a 289.5.

The hot streak of cowgirls continued with Abbie Phillips riding Purdy Talker. The pair marked a 219.5 to bring them to the top of the leaderboard in the Non Pro Stakes Rein Work Prelims. Erin Hanson and her horse, Shiners Voodoo Doll, followed in suit and marked a 217.5 to top the leaderboard in the Level One Non Pro Stakes Rein Work Prelims.

These classes bring us to the Non Pro Boxing Rein Work Prelims. Two cowgirls tied for this leaderboard. Niamh Sexton and her partner, CP MR Catsanov, marked a 217 to tie with Calley Satriana riding Wing Anda Prayer. Erin Richardson also ranked the top in the Level One Non Pro Boxing Rein Work Prelims with a 215 on her horse, Smart Miss TR.

The fun will continue until April 1st! Check it out here!
