Cowgirl Hotlist

A Colorado ranch established in 1862 that currently serves as a popular wedding venue hit the market for an asking price of $11.5 million.

Deer Creek Valley Ranch once served as a stagecoach stop between Denver and Fairplay and hosted one of the first post offices in the area, according to records.

Now, the 165-acre ranch, which is less than an hour from Denver, still boasts mountain views, sweeping meadows, abundant wildlife, and riding trails.

Current features of the ranch include multiple venues including its restored three-story barn. The 4,000-square-foot main residence, known as the “Homestead House,” was also renovated since it was built in the 1940s. Two additional guest houses are also located on the property.

The property was last purchased by owner Tim Marasciullo for $2.6 million in 2003, according to public records. Following his purchase of the ranch, Marasciullo met his now wife and business partner Christian in Hawaii in 2006, and in a whirlwind romance, the couple was engaged just 14 days later.

“We were already engaged before I even knew he had the ranch,” Christian Marasciullo told Denver Business Journal. “So the first time he brought me here we had been driving and when we pulled in, the sun was setting and the gates opened and we could see the horses out in the meadow … I was just moved to tears and he goes, ‘What are you thinking?’ I said, ‘I feel like you need to share this.'”

The couple was planning their wedding in Hawaii when inspiration struck, Christian said.

“Through the course of that planning, I thought that’s what we should do with the ranch,” she recalled. “What a beautiful place to be able to introduce people to Colorado and kind of the whole essence of the mountain feel, the rustic feel but without the drive or the cost of going to Breckenridge or Vail or what have you.”

Following the restoration of a barn on the property and the construction of an outdoor ceremony site, the couple began hosting weddings at the venue in 2011. The venue also drew national attention in 2018 when an episode of season 14 of ABC’s “The Bachelorette” was filmed on the site.
