Bit wipes can be very useful! They encourage your horse to accept the bit, they can be used for cleaning, and they make your tack room smell heavenly. Unfortunately, store-bought wipes can get expensive. You can easily make your own with a few basic supplies and ingredients. Try this simple tutorial!

Bit Wipes

Special thanks to the Savvy Horsewoman for this recipe!

Supplies & Ingredients:

  • Paper towels
  • Peppermint extract
  • Water
  • Scissors
  • Storage container

Directions:

  1. Cut your paper towels so they fit in the storage container. You may only have to cut them in half. Don't put them in just yet though!
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of peppermint extract and 2 cups of water to the storage container. You can add more, but keep that ratio.
  3. You can now add the paper towels. Press down to ensure they absorb the water mixture.

They can be wiped over your horse's bit for cleaning and a great taste!
