You might know Jamie Foxx from Quentin Tarantino’s critically-acclaimed Django Unchained (2012), the action-packed journey of a freed slave finding his long-lost wife alongside a talented bounty hunter. A major plot point is that Jamie’s character, Django, is a skilled rider who knows his way around a horse.

That wasn’t just for the movie; Jamie Foxx is actually a cowboy off-screen! In Django Unchained, Jamie rides his own horse, Cheetah (in the film, named Tony). Way too cool!

Jamie was born in Terrell, Texas, and found a love for horses when he got one as a birthday gift several years ago.

Back in summer 2019, he rode at the Bill Pickett Rodeo in Oakland, CA, and shared his passion for the event and riding in an Instagram post:

More recently, he did a photo shoot highlighting his cowboy nature: just him, his horse, and some rolling hills.

Jamie Foxx even encourages his family to ride; his #daddydaughtertime included helping his daughter ride!

If you didn’t know he was a real-life cowboy, you might just think Jamie Foxx was a skilled actor or fast learner in Django Unchained. Not the case!

Jamie Foxx isn’t alone, either. There are tons of mainstream celebrities with horse fever, including Kelly Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory.
