Durango Boots Adds Professional Tie-Down Roper Caleb Smidt To The 2022 Team Durango Roster

Durango Boots announced the addition of professional tie-down roper Caleb Smidt to the 2022 Team Durango roster. Smidt joins the diverse stable of Western sports ambassadors representing Durango at rodeo events and competitions nationwide. 

“Strength, endurance, integrity, and dedication are a few of the characteristics represented by our Team Durango ambassadors,” said Erin DeLong, marketing manager. “Caleb’s drive, athleticism, and unwavering character make him a champion in the arena and a respected addition to the Durango family.”

In 2021, Smidt earned his third Tie-Down Roping World Championship and third NFR Average title.  In 2019, Caleb had success, driving away from AT&T Stadium The American Rodeo champion and the coveted Calgary Stampede championship belt buckle is one he wears proudly.  

“My objective is to compete competitively in roping events while striving for excellence and Godly character in and out of the arena,” Smidt said. “I am proud to be among the athletes who represent Team Durango.

A Texas native, Smidt began his rodeo career in high school, competing and winning championships throughout college. He currently resides in Bellville, Texas with his wife Brenna and three children.

Regarding his own Durango Boots Smidt said, “Because I have plates in my foot, I've had a hard time finding boots that are comfortable enough for me to wear day in and day out. Since I've started wearing Durango Boots, I've been able to wear them comfortably to rope and work on the ranch.  I've even made a few bets with some of the guys we work with at the ranch that they'll love them too.  So far, I haven't been proven wrong.”

The Team Durango roster of athletes also includes Luke Brown, Paul Eaves, Lisa Lockhart, Shane Hanchey, Ty Erickson, Orin Larsen, Kelsie Chace-Domer, Riley Webb, Stevi Hillman, Zeke Thurston, Garrett Yerigan, Jordan Briggs, Jacob Talley, and Erich Rogers. Ambassadors represent the brand at competitions, including The American Rodeo and Wrangler NFR, and are featured in select Durango marketing initiatives including photoshoots, public appearances, and social media promotions.
