The most important part of a boot for a cowgirl wearer is its functionality. Is it comfortable? Does it improve their competition? Will it work for a wide range of cowfolk and rodeo athletes? Durango works with Western athletes to get these answers and to design the best Western boots they can.

Just one of the design innovations to come out of Durango’s collaborative work is the Dually Shank System, thanks to the contributions of Team Durango’s team ropers Luke Brown and Paul Eaves. According to Durango, the Dually Shank System “consists of two fiberglass shanks that create twice the torsion stability and midfoot support to reduce boot wear out, especially for cowboys with a natural tendency to roll the foot when walking.”

The Dually Shank System is available in the Durango Rebel ProTM and Durango Arena Pro XRTTM collections.

Another design element from Durango working with Western athletes is the currently-launching hybrid sole collection, which came to be thanks to the concept of a leather bottom to make getting in and out of stirrups easier.

Undoubtedly, Team Durango will give some insightful input to this athlete-designer project. Team Durango 2020 is made up of team ropers Luke Brown and Paul Eaves, tie-down roper Shane Hanchey, bareback rider Orin Larsen, barrel racer Lisa Lockhart and steer wrestler Ty Erickson.

In addition to their performance boots, Durango has been diving deep into Western fashion footwear. Their just-released Durango Crush shorties are perfect for summer!
