  1. This breed arrived in North America with the Spanish conquistadors over 500 years ago. Their name means "Fine Steps". They were created from a blend of Andalusian, Barb, and Spanish Jennet horse.
  2. They're born with their gait. It's a four-beat lateral gait that offers an incredibly smooth ride. They're know for their Classic Fino, Paso Corto, and Paso Large gaits.

3. There are a variety of classes that Pasos can compete in. Some of them include in-hand, pleasure, trail, performance, and versatility. When not showing, this breed has been seen doing endurance, dressage, barrel racing, among other disciplines.

4. They're a medium-sized horse, averaging 13 to 15 hands. Their normal weight is around 800 to 1,000 pounds. Paso Finos come in all colors, but the most common are bay, chestnut, black, gray, and palomino. Additionally, white markings are accepted with their registry.

5. This breed is highly trainable due to their intelligence. Riders of all skill levels and ages can enjoy these horses.
