Cowgirl - Double D Ranchwear HatsYup, that’s right…Double D has done it again, folks! When I saw the shots from the Double D Ranchwear + Greeley Hat Works launch party at Dallas market, my jaw hit the floor hard. Not only were all my favorite designers and boutique owners there, but they were all sporting these crazy cool lids!

Their new hat collab with Greeley is nothing short of incredible. They have managed to master that already broken in look that we all love. Then Double D added their signature old pawn and sterling silver details for a finished product retailers and customers alike, are breaking down doors to get to.

About the collaboration:

Cheryl McMullen, Double D Ranchwear co-founder, creative director and designer, shared a few details about this incredible hat collection.

Tell us about this collection.

“All of the hats are very representative of Double D Ranch and our look. Our DNA is present in some way whether it be the Navajo silver on the Old Pawn or the graphics and artwork displayed on the Coat of the West hat. In addition to those core hats, there are collection hats that work in conjunction with our apparel collection such as the Les Gauchos hat which relates specifically to the current season.”

When will this hat collection be available for sale?

“Our first shipments are expected to deliver to stores in June.”

What was the inspiration behind the designs?

Anything part of our core collection originates from our DNA. We produce so much with Navajo silver that the Old Pawn is a natural correspondence. Coat of the West was drawn from a hat similar to my daddy’s that I began doodling and scribbling on long ago. Just like Charlie Russell would doodle on his notes and correspondence, it’s the same context as what is displayed on Coat of the West. Currently we are designing a custom hat for Bonnie Paul with doodling and scribbles that relate to her music and life. Some are adaptations from vintage hats or ones we have bought at auction.

What makes the collection unique?

The design aesthetic and extra details worked into each hat makes it unique. No one is doing anything like this in the hat industry. We’ve accomplished the same thing before with the boot industry. For instance with the Coat of the West hat, there was time spent on research and development to achieve the necessary effect with the markings on felt. This process has not been achieved or successfully completed before.

Will there be another collection and new designs in the future? When might DDR fans expect to see more?

Of course, it will be on-going! Each season will unveil new hats that coincide with our current collection and our core hats will be a continual staple in the line. This collaboration with Greeley will very much mimic the work we are doing with our boot license and the continuity of developing a strong presence in the industry.
