A hobble is a form of restraint that prevents or limits your horse from moving. There are various reasons why someone might hobble a horse, such as when there’s nowhere to tie them or for breeding. Additionally, many trainers teach their horse to accept them for desensitizing purposes.
In the event your horse becomes trapped in barbed wire or fencing, their previous hobble training will hopefully teach them to remain calm and still. They have been taught to give to the pressure and not panic.
