Different cultures have celebrated horses in stories and artwork. These mythical creatures have become well-known and loved by many. From child fairytales to varies legends, there's no mistaking the important role they have played in history. Their beauty, courage, and power has been portrayed in many tales.

Mythical Horses

  1. Centaur: With the upper body of a human and lower half of a horse, this creature is very unique looking. They possess the speed and strength of horses, but have the ability to communicate like a human. In Greek legends, Centaurs were known to cause chaos, though some stories comment on their friendly nature.
  2. Hippogriff: This creature has the front half of an eagle and hind half of a horse. They're fast and powerful! While some tales describes them as symbols of love, others depict them as ferocious.
  3. Pegasus: Perhaps the most popular of the group, Pegasus was a winged creature. This horse was born from Medusa and Poseidon and said to be a noble stead. Pegasus was awarded a constellation because of his faithful service to Zeus.
  4. Unicorn: Many cultures have stories of unicorns. They're frequently depicted as a white horse with a beautiful horn. Most are said to have magical powers!
  5. Kelpie: In Scottish folklore, these creatures are portrayed as black horses that appear in bodies of water. They have the ability to shape shift. Kelpies have been known to lure victims onto their backs and then drown them.
