Country artist, Jade Marie Patek just released a new song she describes as, “A country-rock anthem about bad decisions with bad!#$ guitar licks.” It is called “Dancing with the Devil.”

What was your inspiration for your song?

“I heard a really great song telling this story about someone that couldn't understand why things never went their way. They drank and did whatever else they could to deal with that. The person was too blind to realize that they themself and their vices are the only thing holding them back. That's where the whole line ‘Can't keep dancing with the devil and wonder why you're still in hell’ came from. I held on to that line for a long time for the right kind of melody. When Dustin Schaefer and I got together to co-write and I pitched him that line he came up with the coolest melody, and I knew that line finally found a home!”

Which lyric is your favorite from the song?

“‘Can't keep dancing with the devil and wonder why you're still in hell’"

What’s your history with music?

“My grandpa had a polka band, The Joe Patek Orchestra, that toured all over Texas and even sold a million records. I've always been so inspired by that and it fueled my passion for pursuing my own music career. No matter where I was in life, music has always been the center of it all. I started playing shows right out of high school and I've never turned back. Since then, I've had the honor of playing at many of my favorite venues like Brewster Street and Schroeder Hall and festivals such as The MusicFest in Steamboat and HWY 30 Music Fest. I've gotten to write songs with and perform with some of my favorite artists that I've looked up to for years. I really love sharing my story and music with everyone, and I hope it makes people feel like they're not alone in whatever they're going through good or bad.”

What are your future plans with music?

“I have been writing a ton during these pandemic times, and I plan on releasing a single in June, another one at the end of the summer and an EP by the end of the year. In the next 5 years, I hope I've created an album I'm proud of, I've met as many wonderful people as I could, been a part of a few more music festival bills, played a show (or 10) at Gruene Hall and be gearing up for a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater. I have some big dreams/goals for this life of mine.”
