Two of country music’s brightest young artists, Triston Marez and Jenna Paulette have come together to play longing lovers on the driving new duet “Once in a Blue Moon." Written by Trea Landon, Faren Rachels and Nate Kenyon, “Once in a Blue Moon” flips the well-worn phrase on its head and gives Marez and Paulette room to show why so many of those in the know have their eyes firmly fixed on the rising Texas-born, Nashville-based artists. Marez and Paulette cut the track at Farmland Studios in Nashville, TN, and “Once in a Blue Moon” was produced by David Dorn and Alex Torrez.

“Triston sent me this song and the first time I listened to it was a ‘hell yes’ for me” explains Paulette. “I love that the tempo and energy fits both of our styles so well.”

“When I first heard ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ I knew I needed to cut it,” says Marez. “I had met Jenna a couple months prior and just knew she was the perfect fit for this song. She absolutely killed it! Can’t wait for folks to hear it.”

Marez and Paulette began their breakouts in 2021. Marez released his critically acclaimed self-titled debut album that year, garnering praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, CMT, and others. He was featured on multiple streaming playlists across Spotify and Apple Music, and in addition to over 100 headlining shows, Marez toured with and opened for Kip Moore, Parker McCollum, Flatland Cavalry, Randall King and Aaron Watson.

Paulette opened 2022 by being named part of CMT’s coveted Next Women of Country Class of 2022 alongside Morgan Wade, Amythyst Kiah, Lily Rose and others. In 2021, she spent 8 weeks on “On the Horizon” on SiriusXM’s The Highway, released a series of acclaimed singles that were greeted with press praise from People, Billboard, CMT and others, and received a wide swath of playlist love from Apple Music and Spotify. Paulette also hit the road, supporting Aaron Watson, Parmelee and John Michael Montgomery.

With an insistent backbeat, swells of organ and driving guitars, “Once in a Blue Moon” finds Paulette and Marez playing two lovers who pine for each other quite a bit more than the songs title would suggest. There’s a palpable chemistry between the budding stars, and as the weather continues to warm up, one could image this song blasting out of rolled down car windows all summer.

Marez is currently at work on the follow-up to his debut, while Paulette has plans to release new music all summer.
