Thursday, October 13th, Kate's Cause Hosted their First Inaugural EGG-Stravaganza. The event was held at Los Vaqueros Garden in the Historical Stockyards of Fort Worth and featured guest speakers from MD Anderson Cancer Center, a live auction, food, drinks, live music by Colton Rice, and a visit from BamBam the Longhorn!

Kate's Cause is a non-profit organization that raises funds for young women to pay for fertility preservation before starting cancer treatment. The EGG-Stravaganza raised over $30,000 benefitting Oncofertility at MD Anderson’s Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) oncology program.

“Our goal is to financially aid young women who not only face cancer treatment, but also the loss of their fertility as a result of this treatment.” Said Kate Weber. “No woman should have to choose the treatment that will save her life over her fertility because of finances.

Kate's Cause was inspired by the founder, Kate Weber's own diagnoses of with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in 2018. When she was diagnosed, she was given the option to have fertility preservation before starting her treatment. For Kate, that meant egg retrieval and storage which is not covered by insurance at all, even though the loss of fertility is a direct side effect of cancer treatment or the cancer itself. Kate was lucky enough to have support from her family to pay for the fertility preservation. Unfortunately, we have learned that so many young women choose not to have these procedures simply because they cannot afford it. Kate started her non-profit to provide funds to young women to pay for their fertility preservation.
