Meet the cowboy gal behind the masterpieces, Kailey Klein, Montana-based artist and owner of Magpie West Leather Co., previously K Bar C Leather Co.

“I’m a western creative, cowboy gal, and ranch wife. I like my leather tooled, my horses fast, and my fashion slow,” says Klein.

“People often ask me how I got started as a leather artist, so here’s the story…

Magpie West Leather Co. was born in a little ranch house on the outskirts of a Oregon college town. My working cowboy boyfriend (now husband) brought home some leather scraps and a rose stamp after work one day and said, “here, you’re an artist, I thought you’d like this”. A couple hours later, I’d built my first set of spur straps. It was the useful outlet for my artwork I’d been seeking for years; once I’d created my first purse I was hooked.”

“My inspiration stems from the wildflowers, livestock, cowboy creatures, and overall rugged beauty of the high desert west.” This can be seen in the hand-tooled western landscapes Klein creates.

“Fast forward – the small and very humble leather business, started mostly to pay for beer, has grown into a place where folks come to find eclectic and one of a kind pieces. I specialize in western chic works of art for sagebrush souls, cowboy gals, and anyone who loves the west.”
