Cavaletti

Cavaletti are used by both English and western riders. These small jumps consists of a rail with an x-shaped holder on each side. They can be raised and lowered in three different heights. Before you go and buy some, check out this easy tutorial and save yourself a few dollars.

Many professional riders and trainers use cavaletti to condition their performance horses. They help the joints stay supple, while improving muscle tone and strength. Furthermore, they can teach a horse to stretch forward and down, which strengthens their back muscles. You can find a ton of exercises online!

Supplies for One Cavaletti

  • 4 2 x 4 x 8
  • 2.5″ screws
  • Painter’s caulk
  • Primer
  • Sandpaper
  • Drill
  • Saw
  • Orbital sander
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil or marker
