Art of the Cowgirl’s mission is to create a space for learning and collaboration. These workshops are designed to provide a unique opportunity to work side by side and learn from some of the best in the industry.  

Each workshop is structured differently and priced accordingly. Partial proceeds from the workshops will go towards the Art of the Cowgirl Fellowship Program

Silversmith Workshop with Amy Raymond and Jill Latno-Yamate

January 19-20, 2022

This class will be set up for all levels of students including but not limited to beginners that want to learn new techniques. 

The goal of this class is to set up students with the skills to go home and build detailed pieces comfortably with the fabrication skills acquired in this class. Each student will learn fabrication and overlay techniques to utilize in their daily work and will take home a curved bar necklace in sterling and a toothpick made in the class over the course of two days.

"Jill and I both love what we do and sharing makes it better. We are really excited to meet everyone and help them. We plan on having fun the whole time too."

The class will go over soldering, sawing, forming, turquoise, setting turquoise stones, overlays, fabrication skills, talking about tools needed, using a press with a pancake die, and what you need to get your own studio started.

Chink Building Class with Chelsea Sazama

January 19-20, 2022

This class will cover how to take measurements to build a custom-fitting set of chinks; pattern drawing; types of leather that are good for different styles of chinks/chaps; parts of hides, cutting out and stamping yokes, hand-sewing and machine sewing techniques; fringe cutting; riveting; and more.

Rawhide Braiding: Make a Bosal with Teresa and Bill Black

January 19-21, 2022

Participants will braid an 8-braid bosal body with rawhide and a 24-braid nose button with kangaroo leather. You will have a bosal to take home after the workshop!

Videography Workshop with Natalie McFarland

January 19-20, 2022

Natalie McFarland, owner of McFarland Productions, will help walk you through a plan to shoot to edit to delivery process for this Art of the Cowgirl exclusive videography course. Each student will get the opportunity to film and produce their own short highlight reel for an assigned topic during the course. Films will be featured by Art of the Cowgirl on their social media channels.

Photography Retreat with Kimberly Beer and Phyllis Burchett 

January 18-23, 2022

Spend 5 days with 2 professional equine photographers! Learn professional techniques for photographing events and the process of working with and photographing horses, models, and candid images alongside Kim and Phyllis. In addition to photography techniques, you will also learn about the business of being a professional equine photographer!

Moccasin Class with Kelly Martin

January 19-20, 2022

Learn how to size, fit and function, hand sew, how to fit soles and insoles, and assembly. Kelly will also bring paint if you want to finish up with some paint customization on your moccasins!

Horsemanship Clinic with Lee Smith

January 19-20, 2022

Come ride with our Master Horsewoman Lee Smith. This is a horsemanship class where Lee will present the concepts of what she considers to be natural in horsemanship; using what is naturally happening to teach. She will help riders learn more about developing feel, timing, and balance, on the ground and in the saddle. An introduction to riding with cadence and rhythm will be covered in depth. All levels of riders welcome. 

Cutting Clinic with Lindy Burch

January 20-21 2022

Spend a day in the cutting pen with World Champion Lindy Burch. You will work on the flag as well as on live cattle. Some areas you will focus on are herd work, setting up cuts, how to control a cow, positioning while working, and going over things judges are looking for. All levels of riders welcome. 

Stock Dog Clinic with Robin Brown

January 19-20, 2022

Bring your dog and learn from Robin all aspects of starting and refining your dog’s skills. Open to all levels and all breeds of Cattle dogs. All phases of work will be covered at this event from starting a dog, sending, balancing, driving, and much more. Robin will give individualized instruction to each participant to make sure you get the teaching to the skills you would like to learn or improve upon. 

Teamster Driving Class with Taylor Van Zyl of a Pair of Dice Carriages

January 21, 2022

Students will cover harness, harnessing, hitching, ground driving, single, and team driving. The class will emphasize safety each step of the way and allow each student to try their hand at driving.

Breakaway Roping sponsored by Merck Animal Health

 With Lari Dee Guy, Hope Thompson, and Donene Taylor

January 19-20, 2022

Two-day breakaway roping school with three powerful women in the industry. Join Lari Dee Guy, eight-time Women’s PRCA World Champion and leading advocate for women in rodeo. She will be joined by World Champion Hope Thompson, and Donene Taylor, Mental Performance Coach, and Author of “Heart of a Champion”. 

In this clinic, you will be learning the fundamentals of breakaway roping and how to improve your runs. Donene will also be leading participants through how to master the mental game to win. 

This is a unique opportunity to learn from this dynamic group of women.
