Mardi Gras Ball: Nocona Style!

“Mardi Gras comes to Nocona each February, as the community puts its own spin on this New Orleans-style family-friendly event. That’s why we call it Mardi Gras Nocona Style! The festival begins with the Mardi Gras Ball with costumes and masks galore with the selection of the Mardi Gras King & Queen! Then we start celebrating in full force, with a huge Tailgate Party that lasts all three days of the event. There’s Cajun food and music, vendors, and activities for the whole family. It’s all about the beads, boots, and classic cars in this family-friendly event.

“The series of parades begins with a Pooch Parade! Dogs and owners are dressed up in their best Mardi Gras finery for a chance to win “Best Dressed” in Nocona’s own Krew de Barkus Pooch Parade! It continues with the ATV Parade, where carts and 4-wheelers are decorated to the hilt in green, gold, and purple.

One of my favorite things was all the crazy sport coats that the men wore! There were prints, patchwork, purple, green, velvet, and even sequins galore! But what’s a man without a beautiful woman on his arm?!

Some even broke out the iconic masks to add the finishing touch to their ensemble!

Glitz and glam is the name of the game for this fabulous event! These ladies look striking and have all donned their best to kick off Mardi Gras.

Glitz, glam….and you can’t forget over the top! There really are no rules when it comes to sparkling for Mardi Gras Ball!

They even crown Mardi Gras Royalty each and every year in Nocona.
