Elite athletes from across all rodeo disciplines will converge in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, March 6-7, when RFD-TV’s The American dives in for the “world’s richest weekend in Western sports,” with prize money surpassing $2.4 million. Also coming back is breakaway roping, the burgeoning women’s competition category that made its debut at the event just two years ago.

“For the seventh consecutive year, The American Rodeo has taken over one of the largest stadiums in the world and has provided our rodeo athletes an opportunity to win big,” said Raquel Gottsch, CEO of The Cowboy Channel. “With the support of Durango Boots as our official presenting sponsor, we’re looking forward to elevating the rodeo experience for the elite athletes who compete, as well as the growing number of incredible fans who attend the event from all across the country.”

Through a series of qualifiers, The Semi-Finals, and The American, the event attracts the top PRCA and WPRA athletes in the world and pits them against underdogs who advance from The American Semi-Finals, as all contestants battle for the biggest single paycheck of their lives. RFD-TV’s The American is the result of a full-year of work for rodeo’s most talented athletes who competed in qualifying events all year long in the hopes of earning a chance to rope and ride in this high-dollar event.

Anyone can qualify via the Semi-Finals and any contestant who advances to The American and out-rides or out-ropes the sport’s super stars is eligible for an additional $1 million bonus. Tickets can be purchased at americanrodeo.com.
