Smarty announced in fall of 2022 that it has acquired Heel-O-Matic Training Systems from Pro Equine Group. Both brands are leading manufacturers of training systems for ropers and all operations, including manufacturing and order fulfillment, will be based in Smarty’s state-of-the-art campus in Mount Pleasant, Texas. 

Loyal Heel-O-Matic customers can expect the same equipment they’ve grown to love and rely on for practice, but it will now be manufactured by IMFAB, Inc., Smarty’s innovative fabrication division and backed by Smarty’s dedicated customer service and overall “Spirit of Excellence” from the ground up. 

“The acquisition will provide more opportunities to get Heel-O-Matic products than were previously available,” explains Amanda Shaffer, Smarty Vice President of Business Development. “We aim to increase production of all Heel-O-Matic products with increased attention to quality and detail, as well as build our dealer network, which will make the products more accessible to consumers.”

Started in 1996, Heel-O-Matic was one of the first manufacturers of training aids for ropers and their horses. It revolutionized roping practice machines with its “Heel-O-Matic Hop,” a patented hopping motion that simulates the movement of live cattle on the end of a rope. Together, Smarty and Heel-O-Matic will offer the most extensive and advanced lines of practice machines to increase the skill and precision of ropers of all levels.
