The Snaffle Bit Futurity in Fort Worth Texas was one for the ladies this year! The futurity was hosted by the National Reined Cow Horse Association, and showed off three year old cowhorses from across the nation and Canada. But this year, the ladies rocked the leaderboard in all divisions.

Starting with a win in the highly competitive Non-Pro class. Abbie Phillips piloted “TRR Dual Smart Olena” (Dual Smart Rey x TRR Ms Pepcid Olena) to a composite score of 647.5 (213.5 herd- 218 rein- 216 fence). The pair earned over $25,000 at the futurity.

The Reserve Champion was yet again another lovely lady. Abigayle A. Mixon rode “Reyzin A Princess” (Reyzin The Cash x Pink Catty). She had a composite score of 647 and earned over $14,000.

Then last year's champion Sarah Dawson went in and represented the ladies in the Open Finals. Sarah ended up 4th on “Juliette Jonez” (Travelin Jonez x Shine Smarter) with a composite of 663 and over $50,000 in earnings.

As you can see, the ladies can keep their own in the Open and in the Non-Pro. Almost all of these horses will go on next year and have a very successful careers in their Derby years. Watch for them at the next big shows.
