Western News Calgary Stampede Announces Stampede 2020 By Samantha Crowley | June 24, 2020 Photo courtesy Calgary Stampede. Share Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Calgary Stampede chose to cancel its 2020 event, initially set to take place July 3 – 12, 2020 in Alberta. However, the Stampede fun isn’t gone for good this year. Calgary Stampede just announced their event Stampede 2020, which will feature several family fun, safe events. Under the headline “Community spirit cannot be cancelled,” Stampede 2020 will run for the same 10 days in July originally dedicated to Calgary Stampede. The event will include six family-oriented events meant to boost community spirit while encouraging social distancing and abiding by the recommendations from Alberta Health Services. Drive thru and at-home events are a large part of this year’s events. We may not be able celebrate in traditional ways this year, but thanks to our 2020 partners, we’ll be bringing you some Stampede experiences in a new way, following the safety recommendations from Alberta Health Services.
