It can be a lot of fun learning how to swing a rope. This old cowboy tradition has become a popular sport in modern day rodeos. You can find men and women roping cattle both in competition and on the range. With a little patience, you can pick up this neat skill in no time!

First, you'll need to decide on a lariat. They come in nylon, manila, and poly. Back in the day, they used to be made out of rawhide! This isn't as practical anymore though. Next, find the right size. For an adult, 30 feet is common. Children usually find 15-20 feet comfortable.

You can purchase a rope in tack stores, western stores, and online! They're rather easy to find.
