Let’s Rodeo San Antonio! The Cowboy Channel is proud to broadcast once again all 19 ProRodeo performances plus the Xtreme Bulls, Ranch Rodeo, and Noche Del Vaquero live from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo inside the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. Tune in starting Thursday, February 9th at 7:30pm ET/6:30pm CT for a 30-minute San Antonio Rodeo Pre-Show, which will air before every live performance, followed by two hours of non-stop ProRodeo action at 8:00pm ET/7:00pm CT. 2023 marks the 4th consecutive year The Cowboy Channel has called San Antonio home for the month of February, broadcasting live daily from the Alamo City.
Janie Johnson and Katy Lucas, behind-the-chutes reporters for The Cowboy Channel, will be on the dirt for every rodeo performance, interviewing the round winners in each event as the ProRodeo Tournament builds throughout the month. The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo follows a tournament-style format with five separate brackets – three (3) rounds per bracket. The top four (4) money winners in each bracket then advance to one of two Semifinal Rounds, where then the top (5) out of each Semifinal advance to the Finals. Following the Semifinals there is one last chance to make the Finals, where the top 10 contestants in each event who did not advance to the Finals from the Semifinals compete, and the highest score and fasted time advances. The Finals for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo are on Championship Saturday Night, February 25th at 8:30pm ET/7:30pm CT, and is when each event winner who has earned the most money at the end of the Finals will be crowned the San Antonio Rodeo Champion.
“San Antonio is such an iconic rodeo – from the beautiful city and riverwalk to the fantastic AT&T Center,” said Janie Johnson, host for The Cowboy Channel. “Every PRCA athlete has it on their bucket list to win a San Antonio buckle. This rodeo makes a major impact in the PRCA standings and can set the momentum for the rest of the season as they compete to earn their spot in the top 15 at the National Finals Rodeo in December.”
In addition to the ProRodeo Tournament at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, The Cowboy Channel will also be broadcasting two special performances: Ranch Rodeo and Noche del Vaquero. The Ranch Rodeo is on Thursday, February 16th at 8pm ET/7pm CT and is a throwback to the old west when neighboring ranches would get together to see whose cowboys were the best riders, the best ropers, and generally the toughest hands. Teams of real working cowboys will compete directly with one another in events similar to the tasks cowboys face every day, such as steer loading, calf branding, roping, and more. The Noche del Vaquero is on Sunday, February 19th at 8:30pm ET/7:30pm CT and is a celebration honoring the traditions, artistic skills, and pageantry of South Texas heritage and culture. The evening performance will include Ballet Folklorico, escaramuzas, Bull and Bronc riding, plus charro and mariachi exhibitions.
The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is part of The Cowboy Channel’s “Texas Swing” primetime winter programming, which starts at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo in January, then goes to San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo (February 9-26) followed by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (February 28-March 19), Rodeo Austin (March 10-25), and San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo (March 31-April 2 and April 6-15).
All performances of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo will air on The Cowboy Channel, the Official Network of ProRodeo, in addition, to live streaming and on-demand available for subscribers of PRCA on Cowboy Channel+.
