We’re always looking for new wines to try out. Who isn’t, right? Well, Trefethen Family Vineyards just launched a Cabernet Sauvignon called The Cowgirl and the Pilot, and it’s safe to say we’re psyched.

The wine was created by third generation Vintners Hailey and Lorenzo Trefethe in honor of their parents, John and Janet Trefethen. When John and Janet met in 1973, Janet was a California rodeo queen and John was a Navy veteran. As they started the winery, John continued to fly, even landing his plane on the vineyard, and Janet rode her horses through the lush landscapes. To honor their love, Hailey and Lorenzo finished out Trefethen’s Legacy Collection of wines with The Cowgirl and the Pilot, available for $90.

The wine is an inaugural 2016 vintage with a smooth texture. Winemaker Bryan Mays combined tastes of ripe red fruit, incense, and cedar with advice from the Treftethens to create a 100 Merlot masterpiece from the Trefethen vineyards.

Sounds good to us. Plus, when you’re done, keep the bottle for some elegant kitchen decor.

While you’re shopping for your Cowgirl and the Pilot, try these other cowgirl wines and make a whole weekend out of it!
