Let’s talk about schooling shows! Schooling shows, also known as shaggy shows, are smaller, fun type shows that take place in the early spring before the season starts.

Most schooling shows allow for you to train in classes without getting disqualified. For instance, you can ride a bridle horse two-handed, if needed.

They don’t expect you to show up with your horse fully clipped or riding in full show attire, hence the nickname shaggy shows.

They’re a great place to haul your young horses or even to prepare your seasoned horses for the show season!

Contact your local breed organizations to see if they are putting on schooling shows and prepare for the season.
