The heart of Art of the Cowgirl is gathering together, collaborating, and celebrating talented artists, makers, and horsewomen connected to the Western lifestyle.

Due to COVID-19, the Art of the Cowgirl team made the difficult decision to postpone the workshops, tradeshow, and Master Artist and Clinician demonstrations of their main event until summer. However, Art of the Cowgirl continued on with the World’s Greatest Horsewoman Competition Presented by Western Horseman, All Women’s Ranch Rodeo Presented by COWGIRL Magazine and the Elite Horse Sale as scheduled. The event took place January 13-16, 2021, at Horseshoe Park in Queen Creek, Arizona and celebrated Western women and working cowgirls.

Despite the circumstances, the Art of the Cowgirl team put on a phenomenal event and the competing cowgirls and consignors played a huge part in the success of this year's competitions and horse sale.

“We are so proud to support the empowered women behind this important event,” says COWGIRL Editor and Publisher, Ken Amorosano. “The authenticity of those involved is something we look up to. We pride ourselves on showing our audience and the nation what these dedicated women truly represent—that is the American cowgirl.”

The World's Greatest Horsewoman event pays homage to the working cowgirl. Each cowgirl competing for this title competed in four preliminary events including Reining, Herd Work, Steer Stopping and Fence Work. The top 10 cowgirls then moved on to the finals where they competed for the title. This year's World's Greatest Horsewoman is Patty Ralls.

The Art of the Cowgirl Elite Ranch Horse Sale offered a select group of sale horses that are the product of some of the handiest women in the country. "The only horses that make it to the sale ring are the ones that exhibit a great partnership with each lady, and those that show the ability to be safe, fun, and versatile partners for their new potential owners.  The women we selected are capable of producing horses that can be taken to the arena or straight onto the trail with various levels of rider," says Mesa Pate, Event Director. Sarah McKibben topped the Elite Ranch Horse sale with the sale of "Cashed My CD" at $130,000.
