Sleeping Beauty turquoise is one of the most recognizable types of turquoise in the world. Located in Globe, Arizona, the Sleeping Beauty mine was one of the most well known producers of turquoise in the world!
The mine is named after the mountain range where it is located, which is said to resemble a sleeping woman with her arms crossed from a distance.
This turquoise has a rich, sky blue color and it lacks a heavy matrix. Some say it resembles a Robin’s egg.
In the past, this stone had been very popular due to its consistent color, low cost, and high availability. However, since the mine’s closure in 2012 the price has increased.
