A Wedding And A Rescue Horse

Cowgirl wedding pictures take on a whole new meaning when the horse that stars in them is a beloved AQHA rescue. Stephanie Carpenter went through a difficult time in her life, and that’s when a horse came along that changed everything. Read the story behind the photos.

“The horse is one I rescued 5 years ago when I was going through a really dark time in life. I didn’t want to take him in, in fact I tried to have him sent anywhere but here… in the end, I was the only place with the space to take on one with special needs. Killian was foundered in all 4 hooves and had abscesses in his front two and stowed up in his rear. On top of that, he was severely underweight… he required daily massage and soaking and it was winter here. They say I rescued him … but, in reality, he rescued me. He was my therapist, he was there when I was upset and there when I needed to cry. He found my heart and I owe him everything.

“After getting him up to a good weight, he was stolen out of my yard! I went through many obstacles to get him home, even with the guy being charged criminally. I knew when I got married one day I wanted him there and he was!”
