Weddings are at once so beautiful and so chaotic! Savoring every moment of your wedding day can be tough when you’re trying to be both the host and the guest of honor. Thankfully, we have some wedding tips from Madi Wagner of Madi Wagner Photography.

As a longtime wedding photographer, Madi Wagner has been to her share of nuptials and has learned a thing or two. Wedding photographers get the behind the scenes of every wedding day, and know what happens from vows to goodbyes.

Recently, Madi Wagner shared some super helpful tips on Instagram for happy couples tying the knot. Without further “I do” (get it?), here are some wedding tips from Madi Wagner to ensure smooth sailing on the day you’ve always dreamt of:

Scent of success

“Grab a new perfume before wedding day. A pretty bottle that goes well with your jewelry details, + a smell that you will remember your special day by every time you smell it.”

Bras who?

“Don’t wear a bra while getting ready- the straps will rub on your back + shoulders & show in photos!”

It’s all in the details

“Have your box of details ready for your photographer to grab upon arrival to offer a clear creative mind to achieve the best detail shots.”

Florals first

“Have your florist arrive in the morning so that your photographer can use your bouquet + florals for detail and dress shots. You paid for the bouquet, you will want lots of photos of it!”

Don’t miss the sweet moments

“Decide ahead of time if you’d like to do a first touch, a first look, write letters to each other, etc.”

Something borrowed

“Collect meaningful things- something borrowed, something blue, etc. to provide for your photographer to use for detail shots. These things are even better if they have meaning to you, so don’t be afraid to go to your aunts or grandparents to grab some trinkets!”

Don’t be afraid to splurge

“If you’re going to splurge on anything, let it be a photographer. Once the day is over, you return the rentals, the flowers die…pretty much all you have to look back on is your photos. Make sure you hire someone that can get the job done. If you don’t, you’ll probably regret it!”

A personal touch

“Don’t forget your wooden or personalized hanger for your dress!”

Take your time

“Don’t rush your couples portraits. I know you’re ready to party, but these photos are the ones you’ll frame and show to your kids!”

This is your day!

“Enjoy the day TOGETHER! Your guests are there to support you and you do not have to cater them all evening. My favorite thing ever is seeing my couples interact and enjoy the evening together, not across the dance floor from each other.”

Thank goodness for wedding photographers, am I right? Not only are they super talented, but they know all of the ins and outs of weddings; don’t be afraid to pick their brains while prepping for your big day!
