COWGIRL LIFE Whitney DeSalvo Makes Team Roping History By Jenna Link | July 23, 2020 Courtesy of The Bob Feist Invitational. Share The 25-year-old heeler from Arkansas made headlines at the Charlie 1 Horse All Girls Challenge Team Roping during the 2020 BFI week. After winning first, second, and third in the team roping and taking home nearly $30,000, Whitney DeSalvo got the news that her number was raised. This call made DeSalvo the first female in team roping history to be classified as a #8 heeler. This comes as no surprise as the three-time WPRA world champion heeler dominates every jackpot she enters. She’s currently leading the standings of the Women’s Rodeo World Championship and leading the WPRA Texas Circuit standings. “It felt pretty good. But then again, a lot of things have to change once you get up to this point. That number has honestly been kind of a goal of mine for a couple of years now,” said DeSalvo in an interview with the BFI.
