Willie Nelson is a lot of things- singer, songwriter, and actor. However, did you know he’s also a huge horse lover? That’s right, this American country musician has a 700-acre ranch named the Luck Ranch. He has been rescuing horses for quite some time now. You can add horse lover and rescuer to his titles!

Recently, Willie Nelson rescued a group of 70 horses that were bound for slaughter. He had this to say:

“My horses are probably the luckiest horses in the world. They get hand-fed twice a day, and they were just ready to go to slaughter, probably the last thing they remembered, so they’re happy horses…”

It’s not everyday you see an artist so actively involved in saving horses. His son, Lukas, is also passionate about horses. Together, they are activists for horse safety with the foundations Saving America’s Horses and Habitat for Horses.
