A Cowtown Christmas! Christmas is looking extra sweet for the winning athletes of the WCRA's Cowtown Christmas at the historic Cowtown Coliseum, which concluded with the Triple Crown round this past Saturday. Records were broken and history was made as the winning cowboys and cowgirls took home the showdown titles with show-stopping performances. Most notably, bareback rider, RC Landingham became the newest million-dollar cowboy with a historic million-dollar ride.

Landingham became the first WCRA athlete to accomplish the Triple Crown feat of winning three major WCRA rodeos in a row, earning him one million dollars. In an eight-second ride on Pickett Pro Rodeo's Freckled Frog, Landingham secured the Triple Crown title that had been in the works since his second WRCA win this summer. The historic coliseum made for a picture-perfect conclusion to Landingham's Triple Crown quest, as rodeo fans rose to their feet and cheered as they witnessed one of the greatest moments in WRCA history.

Coming straight off her NFBR win, world champion breakaway roper, Martha Angelone roped sharp to be the fastest time of the week with a 1.82-second run. Angelone also secured the VRQ bonus, adding $25,000 to her week's winnings. When the dust settled, it was Tiffany Schieck with a solid 2.57-second run in the Triple Crown round who took home the title and the $15,00o first-place check.

Also coming from running at the NFR, just over a week ago was Kassie Mowry. Mowry clocked the fastest time of the week with a blazing 13.226 run to be crowned the 2022 Cowtown Christmas barrel racing champion. With this run, Mowry has surpassed the one million dollar mark in officially recorded barrel racing earnings in 2022.

Looking forward to the new year, all of the WCRA Cowtown Christmas victors are now eligible for the Triple Crown Race. The Triple Crown of Rodeo is an annual bonus that will pay $1 million to any one athlete, or collection of athletes, who win first place in any three consecutive WCRA Major Rodeos. The next Triple Cown rodeo will take place May 10-13 in Corpus Cristi, Texas.
