Tanya Tucker has been on country music’s radar since she was 13. You can’t pretend you’ve never sung “Delta Dawn” in the shower.

But, how much do you know about the honky tonk songstress?

1. Her middle name is Denise.

She was born Tanya Denise Tucker. A lot of celebs change their names when they rise to fame, but not Tanya!

2. She grew up all over.

Tanya Tucker’s family moved around a lot due to her father’s job in construction, allowing her to grow up in several states: Arizona, Texas, Utah, and Nevada.

3. She won a CMA award the same week her son was born.

Tanya Tucker won the CMA award for Female Vocalist of the Year on September 28, 1991, and her son Beau Grayson was born on October 2, 1991.

4. She was the second teenager to have a No. 1 country single.

“What’s Your Mama’s Name” (1973) was No. 1 when Tucker was just 15. The first teenager to have a No. 1 country single was Jean Shepard back in 1953 at the age of 19.

5. She decided she wanted to be a country singer when she was just eight.

Her sister La Costa was already singing, and Tanya realized she wanted to follow in her sister’s footsteps. When Tanya was eight, she started singing and told her father she wanted to be a country artist.

It’s safe to say that we ❤️ Tanya. Did you hear about her 2020 Grammy wins?
